Magnum 4 kW
Magnetron open array with a 4 kW transmitter and range performance up to 72 NM.
Magnum is Raymarine's magnetron open array range. A magnetron is the traditional radar transmitter tube; it needs a warm-up (75 seconds here) before it will transmit, unlike a solid-state radar. This 4 kW model has a 72 NM maximum range scale and comes with a 4 ft or 6 ft array. The 4 ft has a 1.85° horizontal beamwidth and the 6 ft a narrower 1.15°, so the longer array separates close targets better.
Bird Mode, True Trails, MARPA target tracking and beam sharpening are standard on all Magnum radars. It can run on Axiom displays and several older Raymarine series, though not every feature works on older units. It suits boats that want an open array without the cost of the 12 kW model.

Magnum 12 kW
Magnetron open array with a 12 kW transmitter and range performance up to 96 NM.
Magnum 12 kW is the higher-power magnetron open array in the range, with a maximum range scale of 96 NM against 72 NM for the 4 kW. More transmitter power gives stronger returns from small or distant targets, which is the reason to choose it for offshore sport fishing and commercial work where reach counts.
It comes in 4 ft and 6 ft array lengths; the longer array gives a narrower beam and sharper separation of targets that are close together. Like the 4 kW model it includes Bird Mode, True Trails, MARPA tracking, and beam sharpening that improves bearing resolution to better than 1°. As a magnetron radar it takes a short warm-up before transmitting. It connects to Axiom displays and to several older Raymarine series, with some features limited on older units.
Magnum is the traditional magnetron answer where outright range matters more than instant-on.
Pairs with an Axiom display
Chart overlay, Doppler colouring and dual range all need the radar and the display working together. We supply them together and commission them together.
