HD Radome
4 kW magnetron transmitter in an enclosed dome, in 18″ (RD418HD) or 24″ (RD424HD).
The HD Radome is a magnetron radar in a sealed dome, with a 4 kW transmitter. A radome protects the spinning antenna from weather and from crew, and is simpler to fit on a busy mast or arch than an open array. The 18″ RD418HD has a 4.9° horizontal beamwidth; the larger 24″ RD424HD narrows that to 3.9°, so it separates close targets better. Both share a 48 NM maximum range scale and draw about 60 W when transmitting.
It offers automatic tuning modes (Buoy, Harbor, Coastal, Offshore, Bird), MARPA target tracking, and radar and AIS overlays on Axiom displays. Raymarine notes the US Coast Guard uses it. It works with Axiom and several earlier Raymarine displays over a digital radar cable.
A radome keeps everything enclosed, which suits a crowded mast or arch better than an open array.
Pairs with an Axiom display
Chart overlay, Doppler colouring and dual range all need the radar and the display working together. We supply them together and commission them together.
